Ehh, Marketing?

Before starting a game design education, I worked several years with Marketing and Business Intelligence. I have a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, and several years of professional experience on both the agency and client side. On this page, you'll find a FAQ and quick summary of my experience.

Why Marketing? 🙂 

I got into marketing because of a passion in cognitive and behavioral psychology – about why people do what they do and how those insights can be used to help them be happier and live better lives, according to themselves.

Initially, I was aiming to study behavioral economics, using which I figured I would have a larger impact on people's lives than as a psychologist. However, since that field is very academic, I later felt that I could have a more practical impact through marketing.

Why Not Marketing? 🙃

Games have always played a big role in my life and I have been playing around with game development for a long time; I got into Unity for the first time around 2009.

 

After working with marketing for several years, I realized that what I loved about marketing was actually better captured by game design; it was about creating experiences, be it for colleagues, clients, or consumers. 

 

I care a lot about people overall, and creating game experiences felt more personal, direct, and meaningful to me compared to promoting products and services. It's a way that I connect and bond with people.

Achievements ⭐

🔁 Client Turnaround at Precis Digital (2021–2023). Turned around a big unhappy client, improving the overall collaboration and relationship, and increasing their digital marketing maturity.

📃 Marketing Report at Alfa Laval (2020). Took the initiative to create a marketing insights report that was used regularly among 100+ users, and saved some days of work each month.

🔗 Integration of information systems at Alfa Laval (2020). Drove a project that integrated previously isolated data systems, bridging together departments and allowing for new insights and workflows.

🏆 Best Marketing Thesis Award 2019 (by Precis Digital). We used text mining and web scraping to extract brand associations from hotel reviews and translate them into actionable strategic insights.

🥇 Winner of the Lund Marketing Bachelor Case Competition 2019. 12 groups competed full-time for two months to create a marketing and communication plan for a business challenge Findus was facing.

Honour's Track (2017–2018). Students at the Bacelor's Business program at Lund can study advanced courses parallel to the program. Applicants are selected based on grades. Our courses were Global Inequality and Advances in Empirical Economics.

Aug 2021 – Sep 2023

Digital Marketing Specialist at Precis Digital. Driving client collaborations and managing marketing strategy and operations.

Aug 2020 – Jun 2021

Master's in International Marketing & Brand Management at Lund University, also continuing as Pricing Analyst at Alfa Laval (10%).

Jan 2020 – Aug 2020

Pricing Analyst at Alfa Laval (100%) working with pricing strategy, data-driven organizational change, marketing tools, and integration of information systems.

Aug 2019 – Jan 2020

Pricing Analyst at Alfa Laval (50%) and Marketing Internship at Findus (50%).

Aug 2016 –  Jun 2019

Bachelor's in Business Administration (Marketing) at Lund University. Courses included marketing, organization, accounting, etc. Also studied additional courses in Marketing Psychology, Interaction Design, and Honor's Track, as well as one semester of Information Systems Design.
